A word of explanation: We were eating lentils and rice at the kitchen counter, and I had put some Tabasco on mine. Jed's was plain. So he started asking for hot sauce, and I tried explaining to him that it was spicy. He kept insisting that he wanted to try it, so I let him have a single drop on a spoon. He was really into it and signed "more" several times. So I said, okay, fine, you can have a little - and I put a drop on his rice. Which he scarfed up right away. So we tried two. He ate that right up and asked for more. So I handed him the bottle, and he poured a good bit on his rice, and then ate it, coughed and then asked for more again. That's when I turned on the camera.

We took a long weekend trip to the Berkshires; while there we went to a U-Pick orchard. The boy was enthralled - apples everywhere, and you got to pick them off the tree yourself! He had a tough time keeping his footing on all the fallen apples; fortunately he was wearing his new boots.
